So what’s the difference between “Standard” and “Premium” bee boxes? Just some visual knots! All trees naturally grow knots and in the world of beekeeping, tight knots in the timber of your bee box has no negative impact on the integrity of the timber. Some people prefer timber with no knots - and that’s ok. Others (especially commercial beekeepers) choose to buy standard pine beehive woodware as the quality is the same and yet the costs are lower.
Premium timber with no knots, costs more because there is less of it available. We proudly stock (and personally use) standard pine bee boxes as a sustainable, lower cost option.
Waggle & Forage's beehive boxes are made from sustainably grown New Zealand Radiata Pine. Using the latest wood-working technology, these boxes are finished with precision cutting. They are assembled by us right here in Kyneton using Titebond III Ultimate Glue and 65mm screws, then wax dipped and painted.
Available in 8 & 10 frame options.
