Formic Pro is an organic, non-synthetic varroa mite treatment designed specifically for use in honeybee hives. Its active ingredient is formic acid, delivered via ready-to-use gel strips that release vapours slowly to target mites at all life stages — both on adult bees and beneath the brood caps.
Formic Pro is approved for use in Australia under permit PER95344, making it compliant with local regulations for varroa management.

How It Works
Formic Pro uses a formic acid polysaccharide gel encased in a vapour-releasing wick (made with biodegradable ecoflex® film). Once placed in the brood nest, the natural ventilation and activity of the bees cause the controlled release of formic acid vapours. These vapours:

Penetrate capped brood cells — killing mites where they reproduce.

Affect adult (phoretic) mites on bees as well as emerging mites — disrupting the full lifecycle of the mite population.

Usage Instructions (Summary)

- Use
2 strips per hive (in the brood nest), placed directly on top bars of the brood frames.

Ensure daytime high temperatures during the first three days of treatment are between 10 °C and 29.5 °C. Higher temperatures (especially above ~33 °C) can cause excessive bee, brood or queen loss.

Leave strips in place for 7 days for a complete treatment.

Open full-width entrance, and do not use with vented bottom boards.

Do not harvest honey for at least 2 weeks after treatment ends.

After use, strips may remain in the hive — any remaining residue can be simply scraped off during the next inspection.
