Ventilated/Mesh Beehive Base With Varroa Tray - Hot Wax Dipped & Painted
Designed and built by Waggle & Forage in Victoria, our ventilated/mesh beehive bases are hot-wax-dipped, for preservation, and are the perfect solution for Australia's new chapter in beekeeping practices.
Our ventilated/mesh beehive bases provide an effective, non-chemical solution for controlling Varroa mites and also hive beetle. Utilizing natural mite fall, about 20% of female Varroa mites that emerge with adult bees, fall through the mesh and onto the tray within the first three days. This fall, often resulting from the bees grooming themselves or each other, is critical in reducing mite populations.
Equipped with a metal tray that easily slides out from either side, our mesh beehive bases prevent these fallen mites from reattaching to the bees or re-entering the brood nest.
While they are not a standalone solution, they are a valuable and natural part of an integrated pest management strategy. Combine our mesh bases with medication, sticky mats, regular alcohol washes and drone uncapping practices for optimal results in maintaining a healthy hive.
Choose Waggle & Forage's ventilated/mesh beehive bases for a natural, effective, and high-quality addition to your beekeeping arsenal.
